          When two years ago you granted the Heritage Aware to the veterans of the Warsaw Uprising, you did it in order that the hopes and aspirations of my young brothers-in-arms would never be forgotten. 

          I wrote my book, Legacy of the White Eagle, for National History Day here in America to inspire today’s students.  National History Day sponsors a nationwide competition among approximately one million students in every state.  These students select historic topics which are judged by leading historians.

          I was fortunate that our project about the Warsaw Uprising was selected and is being used in schools today.  I spoke to the 3,000 student winners twice, and they were extremely enthusiastic.  They discovered that understanding history can help them reach their own potential.   School book reviewers believe that American schools should include Legacy of the White Eagle as a companion to The Diary of Anne Frank and The Red Badge of Courage.

          I hope that, through the Internet, Polish and American students will be able to communicate their common goals and love of freedom and independence.  This way, future generations of Poles and Americans will become even closer than today.  Since history has a way of repeating itself, this is of paramount importance to both our countries.

          There is no museum in America which honors the epic courage of Warsaw’s children during the Polish Holocaust.  It is our fervent wish to make this story available to all American school children and create a living museum in their hearts and minds.  I want to give them the confidence that they too will be strong when their country needs them.

          It is an ambitious project, and I thank you for your friendship, support and love.  With your support future generations of Americans will know and appreciate Poland’s significant contributions to democracy, freedom and independence. 

          Poland needs America.

          Poland needs American Polonia.

          Poland needs us to continue to bring our two countries together—two countries that love freedom and independence above all.

          When Kosciuszko and Pulaski fought for Poland, where did they go?...  America.

          When Paderewski fought for Polish independence, where did he go?...  America.

          When Solidarity needed help, where did the leaders go for help?...  America.

          With each day Russia gets more powerful.  Each day Russian agents in Poland and America secretly undermine our countries with a “divide and conquer” policy in order to create chaos.

          The Polish-American Congress has a glorious history of bringing Poland and America together.  The 21st century’s geopolitical situation brings new dangers, new challenges, and requires new solutions.  The first is unification of all Polish-American organizations under the umbrella of the Polish-American Congress.  Second, we need to create a lobby which is as powerful as the American-Jewish lobby so that Polish interests are treated with equal importance.
